6th Generation Cattleman
We are a family-owned cattle ranch and crop operation. Our journey in the cattle industry began with the commercial cattle operation, which we have been running for six generations. In the 1990s, we started breeding Red cattle, and that's when our passion for breeding top-quality cattle was ignited.
ABOUT THE RAILE RED ANGUS PROGRAM
Our love for breeding cattle reached new heights in 2016, when Josh and his grandfather Mike decided to pursue the registered cattle market. Mike encouraged Josh to attend an AI course at Lake Area Tech, and that sparked the passion to improve the genetics in our herds. We then purchased replacement and bred heifers from prominent breeders such as Bieber, Leeland, Feddes, and Twedt to expand the registered herd.

In 2021, we decided to take our registered herds production to the next level by incorporating embryo transfer into our operation. Josh stated, "I feel that embryos have been an efficient way to increase our production of high-end cows." We implant embryos into commercial cows each spring, and this has proven to be a successful method for expanding our herd with top quality females.

Along with the registered cattle operation, Josh and his father, Scott Raile, currently run a commercial red angus cattle operation. They background the cattle and market them as steers and replacement heifers every spring.
